The epitome of luxury; The Louvre in Paris, invited the ‘star’ of French interior design; Jacques Garcia. Who at his turn approached the beloved French ‘tissu editeur’ Pierre Frey to the table and together they could not celebrate Frey’s 80th birthday any better then this, here’s everything about Pierre Frey in the Louvre.
Nine years ago The Louvre started with a very ambitious €28 million renovation for the reopening of it’s 18th-century decorative arts galleries with 33 galleries, including 14 ‘period rooms’.
One of them was reconstituting the lavish grand salon of the Castle of Abondant as it was in 1750. Together with Jacques Garcia, the Pierre Frey team helped him reproduce one of the fabrics from those rooms. The many decades of expertise and passion of Pierre Frey came handy with this particular painted & embroidered silk.
