Ever seen woven metal wallcoverings in brass, copper or any kind of metal and steel? Maybe it doesn’t sound very refined and elegant but when you see these woven pieces you will be amazed by the way how it’s done. Very unique looking and a beautiful elegant shine, it’s really impressive! We discovered this reinvention on metal and textile at the last edition of Maison et Objet fair in Paris. Meet the best metal wallcoverings you’ve ever seen and get inspired.
Our eyes are always wide open when we see new things and it was when we saw Sophie Mallebranche’s work for the first time. We requested three ‘Chanel-numbered’ samples you see below, pinned them on our inspiration wall and stared at it. Unfortunately you’re not able to see the beautiful shine from the picture, but look how cute: handwritten numbers and great special woven pieces.
Metal woven decor
The great thing about discovering new materials or new interpretations and reinventions like this is that you’re open to use it anywhere because you are not used to see it somewhere. Love to create something unique and come up with all the new possibilities, which in this case can be indoor ánd outdoor.
About Sophie Mallebranche
Sophie Mallebranche was born in France, at the Côte Fleurie, where her passion for metal materials bloomed in the kitchen: shimmering copper tools and the reflection of the blindings. Sophie Mallebranche says: “Not really enough to become a pioneer in textile designer.” But in 1998 she graduated in textile design from the School of Decorative Arts. Sophie turned metal into textile and in 2000 she opened her first showroom in Paris. In the years after, her career grew with the ‘No. 1 clients’, like: Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior and Chanel.
