Today we want to share something special with you, not just a bedroom interior design idea or inspiration…These are our next big plans for one of our new projects! About one month ago we got a request to re-design a lovely apartment in the city-centre of Amsterdam, lucky us! After discussing the style and details we started to create a design for the bedroom. Here’s what we have in our mind :).
Inspired by Jacques Garcia
We came up with the idea to design a custom-made canopy, because we love canopies and this room is suitable for it! So what style is desired and what fits best in the apartment? It’s going to be a fun color palette, together with natural, subtle and a chic touch. For this kind of ‘style’ we’re going for an elegant chic canopy and we have used some the following inspiration…Well, here’s the story. Our designer Robin Toetenel has been to the ‘Des Indes Hotel‘ in The Hague. The hotel is designed by famous designer Jacques Garcia, who created a canopy for one of the bedrooms, with a light weight fabric, that drapes perfectly bold above the bed (you’ll see in the drawing what we mean exactly). For the elegant feeling we take our inspiration from the following images..
Choose elegant bedsheets
In the top images you see the bedsheets of Leitner Leinen, very subtle and elegant bedding, which will be perfect for this project! The next step is making a drawing of the new design, the following design is made by Robin, with inspiration in his mind of the canopy he saw in ‘Des Indes’.
The chic finishing touch
For this bedroom, we knew from the beginning, we wanted to create a soothing environment, which creates tranquility. For the canopy we chose a Mark Alexander fabric; light weight, a warm lambswool satin, with an elegant texture. We took this canopy as a backbone of the room. From there we began to make a palette of various fabrics and a wallpaper that would end up in our first concept. What did we choose for the rest of the room? Recall Jim Thompson silks in subtle colors and patterns, Armani Casa fabrics for the headboard, an elegant chaise longue and Dedar, Rubelli and Fortuny fabrics to make cushions…

So this is how we work and create a concept for a bedroom design..hope you like our ideas! Now, we are working hard to get everything arranged soon, lots of work to do! Don’t miss our update next month..;)
